The first week of November a myriad of events start in Turin, overlapping one to the other and making you feel like you are missing something.
Since last year I decided then to create this guide: I don’t write about Artissima, the art fair, and Paratissima, which never persuades me, but in this list you will find some events I’m totally sure you don’t want to miss and some new entries.

OPERAE | INDEPENDENT DESIGN FESTIVAL
3-6 November 2016 | Palazzo dal Pozzo della Cisterna – via Maria Vittoria 12, Turin
Born as a self-made design exhibition, Operae has established itself in the city (and beyond) and evolved: this year the exhibition is entrusted to a curator, Annalisa Rosso, and the main themes will be the testing and analysis of matter and the reflection on the process and the production technique. This year Handmade Piemonte is back too, connecting designers and traditional crafters.

DANCE SALVARIO: CLUB TO CLUB + SAN SALVARIO EMPORIUM
6 November 2016 | San Salvario area, Turin
A big party around San Salvario, including Club to Club music, the handmade market of San Salvario Emporium, Pimp My Bike workshop and some street food: the perfect place to spend a few hours on Sunday, to relax, have fun and do some shopping.
PUBLIC ANAGRAMS
3-20 November 2016 | buses, metro e trams around Turin
Impasse curates a project that reflects on public art: a series of anagrams and puns traveling on public transport in Turin during the art fair week, with the intention of stimulating the debate among professionals and spectators.
ASSEDIO
Unknown location and time
Guerrilla Spam is back with an unauthorized occupation project of advertising spaces: I do not know much yet, but I suggest to keep your eyes wide open!
THE OTHERS ART FAIR
3-6 November 2016 | Ex Ospedale Regina Maria Adelaide – Lungo Dora Firenze 87, Turin
A new location for a well established event: in 2016 the alternative fair will be staged inside a former hospital, next to one of the emerging areas of the city, Regio Parco, as many other events this year! Here you will find emerging artists and galleries, non-profit initiatives and new projects. The program includes musical events, performances and a panel discussion on the theme of cultural nomadism, around art, design, craft and new technologies.
NESXT
4-6 November 2016 | Q35 – via Quittengo 35, Turin
An extended festival, which starts on October 27 in various locations and then will focus on the weekend of November 4 to 6 in the Q35 (in Regio Parco area too) with 40 projects, plus a graphic art section and a rich live program.
TORINO GRAPHIC DAYS
3-6 November 2016 | Toolbox Coworking – via Agostino da Montefeltro 2, Turin
A lot of people is awaiting for this event, an international festival of visual design which has aroused the curiosity of insiders and fans (like me): a rich program of conferences and workshops and even a street market – where I already know I’m going to spend a fortune. In addition, the exhibition 99, curated by Illustri: not to be missed!
#MOSAICOTORINO
28 October 2016 – 15 January 2017 | Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo – via Modane 16, Turin
A site-specific public art installation made by the artistic collective Dead Photo Working, based in Turin: everybody can take part to the project, using the hashtag #mosaicotorino on Instagram and each picture will become a tile of the big mosaic animated in live streaming.
THE GIFER – International GIF Art Festival
2-6 November 2016 | many locations, Turin
The first edition of the festival dedicated to animated GIF is very promising! Many locations and a main event on November 5, when all the selected GIFs will be shown at Cinema Massimo and the best ones will be rewarded.
LUCI D’ARTISTA
from 28 October 2016 | many locations, Turin city center
Finally a classic, the Luci d’artista, installed around the city: they replace the classic Christmas lights since 1998 and both citizens and tourists like them. My advice is always one: if you can to stay up late, make the tour of the lights very late when the city is deserted. The distances can be easily covered on foot (or by bicycle) and the show is really worth it.
