Umlaute is a Danish design brand founded by Dea Simonsen. I discovered it this morning thanks to the LOVEThESIGN newsletter: how could I’d miss?
Umlaute aims to create unique objects that respond to the needs of both function and aesthetic: the taste for geometry and patterns reproducing marble, granite and wood conquered my heart.
In the catalogue there are placemats, cutting boards, trays, candles and wall stickers that clearly belong to the same project development, but which maintain their strong identity in the variation of colour and pattern: I find it remarkable, because I expected a lot more repetition. Here is a designer with clear ideas, as I like!
Under the same sky is the new 2015 series, that uses again geometric patterns but this time they are reminiscent pf cloudy skies, in gray, blue and pink.
