Today is the World Environment Day and I start a new column dedicated to bicycle. I do it my way, selecting design accessories and DIY ideas all summer long (and maybe further).
I ride my bike all year long to the office, to go out at night, to run personal errands… I (almost) never leave it and luckily and not the only one: in two years, since I started working in the city, streets are now full of bicycles! Maybe you can’t ride to work, but you can enjoy your bicycle in your spare time.
Whether you are an usual urban rider or not, this column is made for you!
The first post is about Sögreni bell, the last present my wonderful boyfriend gave to me, during our spring break in Copenhagen.
Sögreni is, above all, a company established by Søren Sögreni, producing beatiful handmade bicycles. Few years ago Georg Jensen designed a bike for the brand, that is now exhibited insied the Sankt Peders Stræde shop: its name is Wheels and has been produced in a limited series of 14 pieces. It’s silver-coloured with a handmade sterling silver bell. THe price? 28000 DKK (more than 3700 €). Astonishing.
Visiting the Sögreni shop/workshop you can admire this amazing design object and you can get lost looking for details on the exposed bikes. And then you arrive to the counter, where these beautiful bells, symbol of the brand in some way, are displayed.
Now it’s difficult to choose between the 4 different platings: steel, brass, copper and zinc. You can be led by your taste for the colours and your sound preference, as it changes a bit depending from the plate.
Even if you did not plan a trip to Copenhagen, the bell can be purchased here.
But don’t tell that it’s too much expensive: if you choose to ride your bike instead of using your car, you will be able to save a lot of money, to spend, then, buying amazinf design object, like this one.
