Holidays are over: after more than 2 weeks, and waiting for a nice post about my travel to Copenhagen (more details will be published on Carapau costante), I launch today a new column dedicated to geometry, my great passion.
I consacrate it to Pitagora, because, if he was here today, he would be definitely proud of me!
First episode: the triangle.
From the structure of the coconuts plants to the scheme of human settlements according to Le Corbusier, the equilateral triangle shape can be found in nature as well as in the creations of man, in a variety of different cases. Basic geometric shape, as the circle and the square, the equilateral triangle is suitable to be combined in a modular way to generate structured fields in which you can build endless other forms; from classical arabic and japanese decorative art to Buckminster Fuller and Wright contemporary architecture, the knowledge of the equilateral triangle, in all its aspects and its formal and structural possibilities, has given rise to achievements and curious and suggestive attempts.

1) Although recently wall paper is on trend again, wall stickers are still my favorite: you can cover an entire wall without too much effort, especially for the installation. The only remark: the wall must be as smooth as possible. Following the link you will find many other options:
>> Mid Century Modern Danish Multi Colored Triangles
2) Here’s the latest of my objects of desire: in Copenhagen it appeared everywhere, in every store and even in our room, rented by airbnb!
>> Crushed Bowl by JDS Architects for Muuto
3) How can you resist such a mirror? It’s still out of my budget, but I could not exclude it from this selection: the perfect combination of mirrored surface, chemical (oxidation) and geometry.
{I designed the logo of the column before I discovered this mirror, I swear!}
>> Transience by Lex Pott & David Derksen
4) And finally a nice duvet cover, in order to have triangles in every room!
>> Duvet Cover by Assembly Home on Urban Outfitters
1) My beloved necklace, it is the only object of this selection that I really own. It’s like a talisman to me, I put it on almost every day (combined to another one from a dear friend).
>> Arrow necklace by Of Matter
2) A skin for your smartphone, perfect for the geometry-addicted like me (though the Nexus 4 has that amazing pixelated surface on the back and it is a shame to cover it).
>> Vinile skin by DeinDesign on Amazon
3) Another object of my dreams, definitely out of my budget: a bag sculpture by Issey Miyake. Browse the site, multicolor and fluorescent versions are beautiful, I’m sure many of you will appreciate!
>> BaoBao bag by Issey Miyake [via Arscity]
4) Temporary tattoos for those who are still hesitant, or for those who want to change every week. Again, many more options on the website, one better than the other.
